EMTECH SPACE at the Greek Space Tech Forum 2026

EMTECH SPACE successfully completed its participation in the Greek Space Tech Forum 2026, held on July 7 & 8 at the Athens Conservatoire.

In a highly symbolic moment, as Greece celebrates 20 years of active participation in the European Space Agency (ESA) and ESA BIC Greece marks 5 years of operation, the Forum emerged as the ultimate gathering for the future of the Greek and European space ecosystem.

For EMTECH, this year’s event marked a key milestone, confirming its leading role both as an institutional partner and as a pioneer in the commercial era of New Space.

Emtech as an Exhibitor Participator

EMTECH's booth attracted intense interest from government representatives, industry leaders, and academia.

Visitors had the opportunity to view the physical model of the satellite from the landmark Hellenic Space Dawn mission, implemented under the National Small Satellite Programme of the Ministry of Digital Governance via ESA's Greek CubeSats In-Orbit Validation.

EMTECH as Prime Contractor of the mission, presented the architecture of the two 8U CubeSats (HELIOS and SELENE), which successfully launched in May 2026. The HSD mission focuses on validating pioneering optical (laser) communications and in-orbit data processing technologies, laying the foundations for national space autonomy.

At the same time visitors at the stand had the opportunity to witness the public debut of AstroCore-R, EMTECH's new, AI-native onboard computing platform. AstroCore-R enables real-time image processing, autonomous decision-making, and advanced space applications—ranging from formation flying and adaptive missions to secure communications and onboard AI workloads.

Panel Discussion about Greek CubeSat missions

During the conference, the Founder and CEO of EMTECH SPACE, Mr. Nikolaos-Antonios Livanos, participated as a speaker on an engaging panel dedicated to Greek CubeSat missions.

In his address, Mr. Livanos shared valuable experiences and lessons learned from managing and executing the Hellenic Space Dawn mission.

Rather than focusing solely on the inherent challenges of the endeavor, he emphasized the significant, tangible benefits gained by EMTECH and its consortium (SMEs and academic institutions) along the way.

Participation in the programme acted as a powerful accelerator, leading to the creation of new commercial products, the acquisition of pioneering systems integration expertise, and the gain of invaluable flight heritage and operational experience in real mission conditions. This journey has equipped the team with the confidence and resources needed to play a leading role at the European level, bidding for even larger projects.

explaining how EMTECH systematically invests in building strong national and international alliances to support the collective effort for a dynamic and reliable presence in the European space arena.

Apart from consortium’s management and quality assurance, EMTECH was responsible for Mission Analysis and thorough system simulations, including Operational Simulators, Software Validation Facility, End-to-End Simulations for the laser optical communications system, as well as the CubeSat’s Attitude Determination & Control System (ADCS) validation facility to test and validate the precise pointing mission requirements.

The consortium collaborates within an environment of mutual respect, honesty, teamwork and knowledge exchange. The team looks forward to deep dive onto this remarkable journey, propelling Greece into a new era of space excellence and establishing the country as a substantial player in the new space era.

ODES Distinction at the Startups Pitch of ESA BIC

The most exciting moment of the forum came on the business innovation front, where EMTECH’s spin-off, ODES, captured the spotlight in the Startups panel.

ODES is a cloud-native SaaS platform designed specifically for end-to-end mission validation and early failure detection in the New Space sector. Following an outstanding presentation, ODES secured the votes of the audience, winning first place and a cash prize.

This distinction validates EMTECH's strategy to act as a deep-tech incubator, giving its team members the opportunity to become co-founders and translate advanced space engineering into commercial, globally scalable products.

Conclusion and Acknowledgments

The Greek Space Tech Forum 2026 proved that Greece is no longer just a spectator but an active shaper of the European space economy. The exceptional event organized by ethosEVENTS, in co-organization with the Hellenic Association of Space Industry (HASI) and the si-Cluster of Corallia, offered a unique platform for meaningful dialogue.
